Let’s analyse what is ammonia, where is it used and the importance of Ammonia Gas Sensor.

Ammonia is widely used as refrigerant in industrial facilities like meat, poultry and fish processing plants, dairy and ice cream plants, wineries and breweries and cold storage warehouses.

Ammonia gas is highly toxic and if not handled carefully accident release of ammonia could lead to catastrophic consequences. According to “Occupational Health & Safety”  ammonia is labelled as a high hazard gas and such facilities with a high personal safety risk must maintain and operate a system to prevent the accidental leaks of ammonia gas.

Our PolyGard series ammonia gas sensor ADT23 1125 is widely used for detecting leakages in refrigeration plants with ammonia as refrigerant. It continuously monitors the air to detect ammonia concentrations. The ADT-23 possesses a standard analog output, (0) 4–20 mA or (0) 2-10 V DC, and an RS-485 interface. It also offers 2 relays with adjustable switching thresholds to alert the personnel to initiate appropriate corrective actions. Built for a standard digital signal output, this transmitter is compatible with the PolyGard series controllers – the DGC as well as any other electronic control or automation system.
